Since we started sharing the Next Deal Platform about five years ago, many of these ideas have become “mainstream” in our political discourse. The electoral reforms and anti monopoly planks, two of the more important and also more complex ideas, have been lagging. Keep educating and keep fighting! Together we win #TheNextDeal
I feel I owe an apology to many of the people here.
When I started this page, it was to educate, inform, and have discussions related to issues in a non partisan manner. Both parties have been corrupted by big money and partisan hacks, and it’s next to impossible to find a source of information that admits that.
Many of the people who have followed for a long time know I am active in party politics in real life now. As I have gotten more engaged with that, I have routinely used this to vent about politics and the parties in general.
Once you join a party it’s very hard to openly critique them without being completely ostracized and marginalized. Due to this I have used this platform more and more to vent my frustrations and attack people who disagree. It has been damaging to the page and to our discussions.
I just wanted to apologize for this and say I will try to do better. We will return to what we started for, to educate and inform.
The “tax bill” is a humongous scam that will alter America in the same way that the George W presidency did. If this bill passes, it will cement the plutocracy in place for generations
The U.S. tax plan could reshape major areas of American life from education to health care, the NYT reports.
I am not afraid of these people and I call them on their bullshit all the time. This article is on point though. Culture wars are divisive by nature and a losing battle
“I am not the first nor the last to point out that these movements for liberation and justice are exhibiting the same oppressive patterns that we are fighting against in larger society.”
We are alienating each other with unrestrained callouts and unchecked self-righteousness. Here’s how that can stop.
“Railing against growing economic inequality, participation in foreign wars, and political corruption, Mélenchon has skyrocketed in the polls from distant fourth to within a hair’s breadth of the frontrunners.”
Some very good info in this article!
Jean Luc Mélenchon’s supporters argue: “To beat Trump it would have been necessary to support Sanders. Let’s not make the same mistake!”
