Too can judge people by their enemies, and Alexandria Ocosio Cortez has all the right enemies
Consumers should have the right to repair anything they purchase. Isn’t that part of ownership?
“Right to repair advocates have long argued that Apple customers would be able to get a lot more out of their devices if Apple gave them the ability to repair them, but say the company doesn’t want to do that because it will hurt its bottom line. Here is evidence that they might be right.”
Apple finally says that repair hurts its bottom line.
To the people who actually believe “the Democrats need to take corporate money and cater to mega donors to compete with Republicans” think about this –
There are currently over 44,000,000 (44 million) registered Democrats in America. Let’s say that half of them paid dues of just $5 a month. That would equal:
$110 million per month or $1.32 billion per year
That’s just with half of the registered Democrats paying a measly $5 per month. I’m sure more than half would pay dues, and I’m sure some would contribute more, say $10 or $20 per month. Through this arrangement it is totally feasible that they could raise $2 billion per year.
This $2 billion per year could easily fund every electoral campaign and party function that is currently done under the corrupt donor system we have now.
This would allow the Party to represent their base, and not corporate interests, because they’d no longer need their money to operate. This is how a true people’s party would fund itself. No need for donors, no need for PACS, no need to cater to the wealthy to fund campaigns.
Oh yeah, and the best part? They’d actually be able to pass legislation that helped the majority of the country, assuring growth of party, more dues paying members, and a lock on winning.
It seems there is a concerted ongoing effort to discredit our page. People in power don’t like being questioned or held accountable for their actions. It’s better to shoot the messenger than to change their dirty deeds.
We are not run by Russians or corporate interests. This page is run by Americans who care about their country and are disgusted with the state of our politics, and that predates trump if you have time to look back at our posts.
One admin from CT, one from MN, one from California, and a few others who post sporadically. All are Americans, all are progressives and populists who are sick of the political class’s failures.
People being critical of Hillary didn’t elect Trump. People who were sick of cartoonish public relations crafted politicians did. We have never been pro trump. We have never been paid to post. And we have never engaged in nefarious activity to help people be elected.
If talking about politicians actual voting records offends you, or you are looking for a page to cheerlead any person with a D next to their name, go elsewhere. We are not going to stop shining daylight on corruption or holding people accountable, even if they are “the best chance to beat trump”.
We have had major issues in this country for the past five decades. Globalization, endless wars of empire, the full takeover of our government and airwaves by corporate interests, the decline in workers rights and labor unions, deregulation, environmental degradation, the destruction of civic society, stagnant wages, the decline in out standard of living, exploding medical costs, and the decimation of American education are what elected Trump.
Trump is a symptom of a broken political system. Merely replacing trump with another corporate crafted politician will not solve the any of the above stated issues, the issues that allowed Trump to be elected. Until we solve the systemic problems with our society, country, and government, we will be doomed to a fate even worse than Trump. Because he next right wing phony populist will most likely be intelligent, crafty, charismatic, and lethal for our country. Think of a charming trump who is eloquent and knows how to operate the political machinery, that’s who we get next if we don’t fix the underlying problems.
