Thanks Social Good Now
The internet is a public good and should be treated as one. It is time to nationalize the internet and create a level playing field for all content providers. Equal access for ALL. It is time for the internet to be a non profit entity, that uses all the money collected to reinvest in the system.
Right now a large chunk of your bill goes into stock dividends, share buybacks, and marketing. None of these activities makes your internet faster or cheaper. These activities make your bill more expensive while the companies that gouge you under invest in infrastructure and employees.
Comcast spent $2.85 billion for shareholder dividends in 2016. How much better would your internet be if they spent that on infrastructure or employees? How much cheaper would your bill be if they didn’t spend that on dividends but instead lowered their rates?
This is why people here police. See all the “good cops” standing by watching their friend assault a nurse for doing her job…
People need good jobs and there is plenty of work that needs to be done. A job guarantee would solve so many of our problems. Do you think anyone who wants to work should be given a job? #theNextDeal
Impeachment is not good enough. We need a new election in light of the fraud, collusion, and hacking that occurred in 2016. The line of succession under the Constitution is not applicable to the current situation. Instead, we need to look at two countries, Ukraine and Austria, that ordered new elections after fraud occurred in their elections.
Yes, under the right legal scenario, the US Supreme Court could order a new presidential election. If not, the American people need to have massive protests like the people had in Ukraine 2004 and 2014. In fact, Trump with Manafort used the Ukraine template to rig the election so now it’s up to us to use the Ukraine template to overturn the election.
“Voters for decades were conned into thinking they were noisome minorities whose best path to influence is to make peace with the mightier “center,” which inevitably turns out to support military interventionism, fewer taxes for the rich, corporate deregulation and a ban on unrealistic “giveaway” proposals like free higher education. Those are the realistic, moderate, popular ideas, we’re told.
But it’s a Wizard of Oz trick, just like American politics in general. There is no numerically massive center behind the curtain. What there is instead is a tiny island of wealthy donors, surrounded by a protective ring of for-sale major-party politicians (read: employees) whose job it is to castigate too-demanding voters and preach realism.”
Jeremy Corbyn delivers another blow to the defining political myth of our era.
It’s so sad to be living in a country that does so much good in the world only to be hated. Seems as though all of our good is weighed against the actions of our military industrial complex. We always seem to lose when the bombs being dropped around the world are clearly stamped made in the USA.
Maybe all that hate aimed at us might feel differently if we were hated for different reasons.
Maybe if they hated us for having the cleanest water or best health care on Earth, it might feel different. Maybe if they hated us for having the greatest education system, the best green energy grid, psychiatric care, transportation, early child development, the best criminal reform system or even the highest minim wage, it might feel different.
Maybe we could find some real justification if we were hated for the right reasons.
We’re hated for greed. Yes, the Capitalvanian’s greed and their endless thirst for maximum profit. We’re hated for a selfish ideology- one taught to all Americans. It’s one that says we’re justified to create max-profit. Yes, as Americans we’re free to do what ever it takes to profit, regardless of the outcome to seen as well as unseen others!
It leaves me wondering… all this hate, and for what? What are we, the people, getting for all this hate?
We get the highest incarceration rate and the largest total prison population in the entire world. We get more school shootings than anywhere else in the world. We get the highest percentage of women taking antidepressants than in any other country in the world. We get more people being diagnosed with mental disorders in America than anywhere else on Earth. We get the highest rate of illegal drug use on the entire globe. There is more credit card debt in America than anywhere else in the world. We get more mortgage debt in America than anywhere else in the world. We get more student loan debt in America than anywhere else in the world. We get to spend more on health care as a percentage of GDP than any other nation on the face of the earth. We get to spend more on the military than the next 12 nations combined. We get the most foreign military bases in the world and then we get to spend more money on elections than anyone else does in the world by a very wide margin, just to see what we get.
I can’t find a spot in this mess to focus on and they make sure we get that, too…
What I do know is if we can’t find a way to defeat the enemy within, then all the justification in this world-gone-mad will only lead to more hate aimed at us. ~jh.
