“‘The big danger that Democrats face,’ Sandberg warns, ‘is that an uninspired base will not bother showing up if they don’t see Democrats fighting.'”
And let’s just be honest; the Democratic Party, right now, is not very inspiring. They proudly proclaim that they will resist, but Americans need to see policy alternatives and transparent leadership. There are too few Senators taking a stand, pushing for investigations, and presenting a substantive idea of what the Party stands *for* going forward.
Enter #JusticeDemocrats: We don’t need polling to find out what our position is. We are unafraid to stand for economic, social and legal justice. We applaud the various other grassroots organizations rising to hold representatives accountable, push for progressive policies, and an end to bipartisan political corruption.
Yesterday, after stalling the #AHCA vote, Donald Trump said this: “When they all become civilized and get together and try to work out a great health care bill for the people we’re totally open to it.”
Now is the time for Democrats to do just that and push for a civilized healthcare bill. Luckily, a bill like this is already in the House. In January, Congressman John Conyers, Jr. introduced #HR676 (Expanded & Improved Medicare For All Act”), a bill which would provide affordable healthcare coverage to every single American. Bernie Sanders is set to propose a similar bill in the Senate very soon.
America needs Congressional Democrats to get behind both bills; House Democrats must cosponsor #HR676 and U.S. Senate Democrats must support Bernie’s forthcoming Senate bill.
And we need one million Americans to sign this petition and pressure Democrats to make a fight for #MedicareForAll.
Trump and Congressional Republicans have put Obamacare on the chopping block. But they can’t bring themselves to kill it because that would throw millions of their constituents off of health care.
This is no time to declare victory. It’s time for Democrats to stop leaning on the crutch that is the #ACA and to start fighting for real healthcare reform, based on the needs of patients, families, and communities, not on corporate profits. It’s time for #MedicareForAll. Only 72 of the 193 House Democrats have signed to cosponsor #HR676.
Demand Congressional Democrats start leading. Sign this petition to tell them to join our campaign for #MedicareForAll. Nothing less will do.
National Nurses United, one of many organizations who opposed the GOP bill, is on the front lines of our broken health care system. Like Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress, they know #MedicareForAll is the only solution.
Together, we issue this call to action: Democrats must stand with America’s healthcare professionals and fight for single-payer.
Sign it. Share it. Get everyone you know to sign it. We will hand-deliver your signatures to Congress — and we’ll invite you to come along if you can make it to DC.
Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress are fighting to make #MedicareForAll the law of the land. If this Congress won’t do it, we will elect a Congress that will.
Yours for the revolution,
The entire team at Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress
“But it is just at this point, when things look darkest for the Democrats, that you can count on the Republicans to do something that will save the day — that is, it will save the day for us. You can always count on the Republicans, in an election year, to remind the people of what the Republican Party really stands for. You can always count on them to make it perfectly clear before the campaign is over that the Republican Party is the party of big business, and that they would like to turn the country back to the big corporations and the big bankers in New York to run it as they see fit. ”
Who knew that, of all people, Harry Truman would have advice from 1952 that has relevance in 2017? While Truman, who did propose national healthcare in 1945, is not a model to emulate, his words are prescient; the Republican failure to even bring their #Wealthcare bill to a vote wasn’t a victory for the Democratic Party. It wasn’t even much of a victory for the American people, nor should it be seen as one.
Yesterday’s Republican failure has given Democrats a golden opportunity to save the day and show people they are capable of being the party of the people by openly and loudly endorsing a #MedicareForAll plan. Whether the establishment wing of the Democratic Party recognizes this opportunity or not, we #JusticeDemocrats do. We want to make this Party your party. We want to push this country forward. We want to give it to the people to run.
Victory is #UniversalHealthcare. That is what you deserve as a right of being an American. Accept nothing less.
“Gorsuch is “not a neutral legal mind but someone with a deep-seated conservative ideology,” Schumer added. “He was groomed by the Federalist Society and has shown not one inch of difference between his views and theirs.”
With a filibuster, Gorsuch will struggle to find the support to clear a 60-vote procedural hurdle.

It’s almost as if working class whites, blacks, and latinos all have the same interests…?
“Whether you are a working class white voter or a working class black voter or a working class Latino voter, if this economy isn’t working for you, you’re pissed off! We have to lean into that. This debate about whether we double down on our base or talk to working class white people is ridiculous. You have to go everywhere. We have to go everywhere and we have to talk to everybody.””

“The DNC wanted to know why traditional Democratic areas in the industrial Midwest have gotten away from them. It’s because too many manufacturing plants have been getting away from us – and too many Democratic leaders have been AWOL. When it comes to how they and their families are going to survive, too many workers can’t tell one party from the other. Yes, we’ve stood up for the safety net and social justice – we’re not one-issue Democrats. But Indiana, along with much of the industrial Midwest, has been getting hammered by rigged trade deals that have left thousands of Hoosier families stranded. It’s upended our world.”
