American Reformers added a new photo.
We are at a pivotal moment in American history. Both parties have shifted to the right over the past four decades, embracing neo liberal “free market” ideology over the will or welfare of the people. The public has awoken to this nightmare, and the shift to populism is already underway.
The election of Trump, the decimation of the neoliberal order in the Democratic Party, and the current revolt against the GOP establishment over healthcare are all indicators that the country is ready to move left and forward.
It is now up to all of us to make sure the void is filled with good people ready to fight for our futures. It is said that fascism rises when the left offers no viable solutions to the problems we face. This is why Trump won and Hillary lost. Hillary represented the corrupted status qou that left too many behind and impoverished. We must rally around:
-Tax reform that benefits the worker
-Bold solutions to combat climate change and create a carbon free energy grid
-Refinancing of student debt and tuition free university for those with the aptitudes
-Reforming our broken primary schools
-Massive investment in re-industrialization and infrastructure
-Public campaign finance and ballot reform
-Anti corruption laws that jail people who commit white collar crimes
-Ending all war profiteering and the American Empire
We urge everyone to get involved in your communities. Join local grass roots groups, get seats within the local power structures, and offer alternatives to the problems we face. It is time for progressive renaissance in America. It’s up to each of us to make sure it happens! It is up to us to push for the Next Deal, and support and vote for those who will make it happen. Are you in?

So, I’ve got a question. Approximately 3,000 people sadly died from the 9/11 attacks. We subsequently spent trillions of dollars to try to assure this wasn’t repeated and fighting a lot of unnecessary wars in its name.
This “health care “bill would kick 24 million people off of health care, and probably more now with the new provisions. This will without question result in far more death of American citizens than 9/11 did. So here’s my question-if the government does not owe you any assistance with health care then why does it owe you safety from terrorism?
Why are we willing to spend trillions due to the death of 3,000 if American life is so worthless in the eyes of these folks? Why doesn’t the government, which is supposed to be a body of power representing all of us, at the very least, owe us consumer protection from greedy insurance companies?
The government is supposed to be all of us little Davids banded together to be a Goliath but it seems to me they’ve forgotten A.they are us and B. it’s ours, not there’s to trample us with.
“It is smug, however, to disparage people for “voting against their interests” when in reality both parties have failed to adequately address the real problems facing poor and working-class communities across America today. While there can be no doubt that Hillary Clinton would have been a better president for the working and middle classes, it is also true that Trump was better on certain issues that are important to blue-collar workers, such as free trade and the Trans-Pacific Partnership. (Even though Clinton opposed the TPP during her campaign, she didn’t have much credibility after having repeatedly praised it for years, whereas Trump immediately withdrew from the deal once in office). As Rensin noted in his essay, “No party these past decades has effectively represented the interests of these dispossessed,” but only one has “made a point of openly disdaining them too.”
Maybe it’s human nature to gloat while Trump’s voters lose their health care — but it’s not the path to victory
