During Mid-Term Election the Voter Turnout is around 38%, add in the Gerrymandering of Congressional Districts to that and you probebly have 15% of the US Electorate dominating the House of Representatives and Senate.
In Australia during the 1920s, they were having Voter Turnouts of around 55% and they believed at that time that was inadaqaute for a Government to have a mandate so they made Voting Mandatory.
If filling out Tax Returns is Mandatory, then why cant Voting or atleast casting a Ballot be Mandatory, providing there is….
1. Automatic Voter Registration
2. A Public Holiday for Federal Elections
3. Minimum 30 Days Early Voting in Every State.
The United States Constitution should be Amended so that a Right to Vote in anchored into it, and the Federal and State Governments introduce legislation to make sure all Citizens are registered to Vote.
Bernie Sanders has introduced Legislation, along with Keith Ellison and Mark Pocan to make this a Reality.
Ranked-Choice Voting that has just been introduced in Maine on the State level, would make Gerrymandering much harder as their would be multi-member districts.
