The Department of Defense asked for $2 billion over five years to buy 4,000 Tomahawk Missiles from Raytheon, whose stock price is now up 20%. If we can fund war, we can fund healthcare.
On November 8th, voters had a choice between two pro-capitalist candidates, after a primary season with a viable democratic socialist candidate: Bernie Sanders. We all know the choice the Democratic establishment made. Don’t make the same mistakes neoliberal Democrats made in 2016. Join the Democratic Socialists of America!
Neil Gorsuch has been confirmed by the Senate to be a Justice of the Supreme Court. He is likely to be as conservative as Clarence Thomas, and is also likely to be on the Court for decades.
Gorsuch will be plagued by public suspicion that he’s not a Justice for all the people. He was put on the Court only after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused for 8 months to hold hearings on Barack Obama’s pick, Merrick Garland, and then only after McConnell and Senate Republicans changed Senate rules to allow confirmation by a mere majority and not permit opponents to filibuster.
McConnell, meanwhile, will go down as one of the most viciously partisan Majority Leaders in history, who put party before the nation.
What do you think?
Not even 3 months into his presidency and he launched an attack on Syria without a UN resolution or the approval of Congress. Though he promised not to get the US involved in the middle east, here we are fellow Americans, now involved in the middle east.
He will block Syrian refugees from coming to our country, but thinks further bombing theirs is a solution??
This is not a president #FakePresident…this is a walking, blabbering liar who stole the election with the help of one of our worst enemies. #RussiaGate
From the Left: “Trump’s missile strike will accomplish nothing. It is a stunt to trigger “rally effect” to boost his popularity.”
“Syria saw it coming, moved personnel – and equipment – off the bombed base. Russians warned. An impotent stunt.”
Yes, it was a stunt to boost popularity in a time of desperation. But it’s wrong to call it “impotent” or say it “will accomplish nothing.” It will seriously hamper Assad’s aerial capabilities and prevent Assad from bombing civilians.
Hillary called for the strikes earlier in the day. This was a major, immediate reversal for the Trump administration, but an appropriate action. What comes next and how they handle it is the concern.
